A GSTR-1 from Tally, Busy or Marg, or a TallyPrime Day Book

Two ways in. A TallyPrime Day Book exported as XML is read as vouchers, each line traced to its voucher. A GSTR-1 workbook from Tally, Busy or Marg in the offline tool format is read sheet by sheet; that path is built from the published template, not yet read against a real export, and it says so. One way out: the checked month goes back to Tally as import files.

Which report, and from where

For the Day Book, in TallyPrime: Display More Reports, then Day Book, for the month. Alt+E to export, and choose XML as the format.

GSTR-1 export in the GSTN templateExcelOne workbook with sheets named b2b (or b2b,sez,de), b2cs, cdnr, cdnur, exp, exemp, hsn(b2b), hsn(b2c), docs and ecom. Tally names it GSTR1_Excel_Workbook_Template.Used for: Every table the sheets carry: 4, 5, 6A, 7, 8, 9B, 12 (both halves), 13 and 14, and the amendments in 9A, 9C and 10. Read as a finished return and checked against itself, since the invoices behind a summary sheet are not in it.Without it: The Day Book below does the same job. Without one of the two there is no return.
TallyPrime Day Book exportXMLAn XML file from TallyPrime: Display More Reports, then Day Book, then Alt+E, with XML as the format, under whatever name you give it. Tally writes it as UTF-16; a copy saved again as UTF-8 reads too.Used for: The GSTR-1 from the vouchers: every sales invoice, credit note and debit note of the month, each line traced to its voucher, with every check a marketplace month gets.Without it: The workbook above does the same job. Without one of the two there is no return.
The same month’s marketplace reports, beside the workbookExcelAmazon MTR, Meesho, Flipkart files for the month.Used for: A second return from the orders, held against the workbook line by line.Without it: The workbook is checked against itself only.
The traps in this file

None of these raises an error. Each one makes a wrong return that balances.

Trap 01A workbook summary cannot be traced back to an invoiceThe template is totals by section. Nothing in it can say that a sale is missing from the books.
What fynxIQ doesChecks that the sheets agree with each other and with the portal’s rules. Upload the marketplace reports as well and it can tell you a sale is missing; drop the Day Book instead and every line is traced to its voucher.
Trap 02Older templates have one HSN sheetSince the May 2025 period Table 12 is filed in two halves, and an older workbook has a single hsn sheet.
What fynxIQ doesPlaces a single hsn sheet by what else the workbook holds. A workbook with both registered and consumer sales and one HSN sheet is stopped, because the split cannot be reconstructed.
Trap 03A voucher type is known only by its nameA Day Book export carries the name the firm gave a voucher type, not the Sales or Credit Note it sits under.
What fynxIQ doesReads the type from the words in its name. A type whose name says none of sales, invoice, credit note, debit note, purchase, payment, receipt, contra or journal is left out and named, with its amount, rather than guessed at. Give the type a name that says what it is, and export again.
Trap 04A voucher with no place of supply holds the returnA summary typed by hand in Tally can carry no place of supply. The place decides which state receives the tax and whether it is integrated tax or central and state tax.
What fynxIQ doesNames such a voucher, and the return waits for it rather than guess.
Trap 05The other way: the month back into TallyA month prepared from the order reports goes back into Tally as its import XML. Both the sales and the purchase files were tested by importing into a TallyPrime 7.1 company and reading back its Day Book; import into a copy of yours the first time.
What fynxIQ doesFrom the Tally export tab of the return: one voucher per invoice to a registered buyer, one summary per marketplace per state for consumer sales, split into parts of at most the B2CL limit where Tally would otherwise count it as one large invoice; exports and supplies to SEZ units invoice by invoice, with the port and shipping bill, and each export customer in the country you name. From the Purchases page: a purchase voucher for each bill in your books, a supplier’s credit note as a Debit Note, a ledgers file, and a removal file for what the month no longer has. Every ledger it posts to is named by you once and remembered; none is invented, and a ledgers file creates them in Tally before the vouchers go in.
